FLOWERS OF WINTER
by
Doris Ray

Soft white petals swirl thickly
obscuring stark grey tree line
Sapling and willow branches
are barely visible
through the cloudburst
of fluffy wet confetti

In November
moist cottony clouds produce
silvery white blossoms
Their petals flutter to earth
blanketing the ground
quickly and silently
