Do It Yourself Website - This book has been carefully prepared to teach the reader to construct a fully operational website. The website we will be creating is designed to advertise Granny's Guesthouse on the Internet. After mastering this step-by-step tutorial the reader will be equipped to modify the webpages to suit most any topic.

No additional software or tools are required for this project. The website created in this book uses Windows Notepad Editor, and Internet Explorer. Other editors can be substituted as can a browser such as Netscape. You should be familiar with creating directories, opening and saving files.

As much as possible I've written this book with the novice computer user in mind. So you more experienced computer users please bear with me. In the Appendix in the back of this book you will find printouts of the source codes for all the webpages we will create. These are attached for reference purposes only, as I strongly recommend you build the source coding step by step as laid out in this book. Take your time and go through each section carefully until you understand it.

After we have created our new website and it is operating properly on your computer, I will show you how to upload it to the Internet. We will use a free webspace provider so there will be no cost to you.

If at anytime during the course of this book you feel you require help, contact support@sandercott.com and I will provide E-mail Support.

In the Appendix at the back of this book I provide the website address (URL) for websites where you can download a free AceHTML Editor, a free HTML eXTReme Tracker program, a free WS_FTP program, a free WINZIP program, and a free HTML Tutorial. While none of these programs are required to complete the tutorial in this book, they are valuable tools that will greatly enhance your ability to create meaningful websites using correct coding and formatting procedures.

This book will not only get you up and running on the Internet with your new website, but it can act as the launch to a new hobby or career as a website designer.
